A first grade "stamper" takes a break from her work to check out the book Everybody Loves Coco. The book was donated to our library by author Shari Kitchen after her visit. We can't wait for the sequel about Coco's life as a therapy dog!
Kindergarten students recently learned how to browse the shelves and choose their own book. Thank you to Ace Hardware for donating browsing sticks (also known as paint stirrers) so we would have enough for each student!
Today after school the fifth grade Doctor Who group enjoyed homemade Jammie Dodgers, the Doctor's favorite cookie! It has been a lot of fun watching the show this fall, and we will meet up again when there are more new episodes.
The PTO has paid for nine new magazine subscriptions, and the first one arrived last week! Magazines are a great up-to-date nonfiction resource. Due to budget limitations, we haven't had new magazines in over a year. Thanks to the PTO, we will have them now!
We were very lucky to have Coco visit today. Coco is a beautiful standard poodle who works as a therapy dog. She also stars in her own book: Everybody Loves Coco. Her owner and the book's author, Shari Kitchen, came to read the book to our kindergarten and first grade classes. The students asked Shari some great questions and then got to pet and "make friends" with Coco. A big thank you to Audrey Shapiro from the Charlevoix Public Library for setting this up!
