Mock Caldecott 2015

Here are the Charlevoix Elementary School 2015 Mock Caldecott finalists as chosen by the upper grades. Over the coming week, all CES students will be reviewing and voting on which book they think is the "most distinguished." Students will be voting in class with their iPads.

Thank You Charlevoix

Miss Frank would like to thank our community for their help purchasing new books for our school library. The Charlevoix Schools Foundations donated a grant for new books, and the CES PTO and Charlevoix Council for the Arts donated funds to add to our eBook collection. Money was also raised through a book fair put on by Round Lake Bookstore. Without the generosity of these groups and businesses there would be no new books for Miss Frank to share with our students. Thank you!

Wish List Helpers!

A big thank you goes out to the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students! This week they helped the kindergarten and first graders browse the book fair and write wish lists. After the lists were done, the students read books together.

Circles of Art

The Charlevoix Circle of Arts recently wrapped up their Inside the World of Outsider Arts exhibit. Featured was a house decorated by retired art teacher Ms. McGraw and covered with circles created by CES students. The house will now reside in the CES Library where students have been admiring it all this week.

I always wonder, do the students pick the books, or do the books pick the students? Either way, I love it when they match!
